Luke Floorwalker

Cornwalls wood floor specialist

Mark. St Austell

We have recently had an engineered oak floor fitted by Luke Floorwalker. Luke was recommended to us by a supplier and we are glad we followed their advice. The floor has been fitted very professionally and with great attention to the details that make it stand apart from the ‘run of the mill’ wood floor. This was a large project and spanned several weeks and at all times Luke was helpful and  courteous, working with other trades and keeping the house as use able as possible for the family. He went the extra mile, often doing tasks outside of his immediate responsibility to help the whole project forward. I would thoroughly recommend him for any wood floor installation.

They say that you get what you pay for and in this case I found it most refreshing to get what you pay for and more. I was more that impressed when Luke turned up with very professional looking equipment. I was put at ease by Luke’s very down to earth and laymen friendly explanation of the state of the floor and what was needed to sort things out. Preparing myself for a week of dust and noise I was again impressed and pleased when I realised that the equipment he had enabled him to work almost entirely dust free. The finished floor far exceeded my expectations & I was more than happy to provisionally agree to a service contract to maintain my great new floor!

Testimonial from the Moffett’s The Old School House:

We have a 19th Century converted village school and were in the process of upgrading the decor following the previous owner’s excellent conversion. My Father and Grandfather were parquet floor layers and I had intended to polish the wood floors myself but circumstances meant I was away and my wife was recommended “Luke Floorwalker”. This is her testimonial:

“From the first meeting I felt confident that the job would be done well. We discussed what was needed – sanding and polishing both oak and pine floors. Luke explained how the work would be carried out with his expensive machines and all furniture and areas would be covered up. He was both clear and accurate on timings and costs – the job taking just over a week.

After a few days, I was happy to leave him with the house key and go off on holiday to Wales for a few days. I was thrilled with the result and the polished finish transformed the house. Just as important was that there was no dust!”

I have never met Luke but I can confirm my wife’s assessment of his work, and I have lived with wood floors from an early age. I would describe Luke as a craftsman not a tradesman and recommend him to anyone who requires a quality upgrade to the woodwork in their house.

“Luke was recommended to me by a carpet fitter who provided me with his number. From first contact with Luke he was reliable, polite and gave us very good advice. He did a great job for us and would certainly use him again. He is professional at what he does.” March 9, 2012

“Luke did all our flooring and made a terrific job of it. He rescued a job that had started going wrong before he got involved, straightened everything out, and finished it off really nicely. On top of that he was a good guy to have around, I have no problem at all recommending Luke and his work.” March 6, 2012

Had a engineered oak flooring put down onto concrete at my old apartment, and was very impressed by the service, workmanship and the floor. Five years later it is still looking good.
When I moved to my new Victorian house I knew who to turn to for another wood floor; with very short notice Luke managed to squeeze me in between jobs, working well into the night to finish to his usual high standards. Two years later it is still looking perfect and gets commented on by most visitors. BEWARE once you have seen a floor laid by Luke you will turn into a wooden floor snob and notice the inferior work of other so called ‘tradesman’; who may quote slightly cheaper, but you will only end up liking the result, rather than loving it!

Luke worked on my 1820’s house and did a great job on the floors downstairs. Before he was able do the wooden floor he had to water seal and level the underlying foundation which was done perfectly and quickly. Altogether a good job, he also cleaned up after himself which is a nice change from some of the contractors I have working on the house. To summarize I’d say good quality work at a good price!

Luke has done two separate floors for me, two years apart, to match an existing parquet floor. I am totally satisfied with the result and am unable to tell that all the floors were not laid at the same time. Reclaimed blocks were used on each occasion and required exacting cutting to match the blocks in the original floor.

Brilliant job, a 100 year old floor looked like new. Jake the Dog Hobbs has scratched it a bit so will be getting Luke back to sort it. Everyone who comes into the hall loves the floor. There was a lot of dust, but well controlled with assorted plastic sheeting so it hardly spread around the house. Even got him to do the thresholds, which was a labour of love (all 8 of them).

We own a holiday cottage in Falmouth – Seaworthy. We think that Luke did a great job and has transformed the feel of the cottage. Our neighbour Ross was amazed at how hard Luke worked – truly burning the midnight oil to get the job done within our tight time constraints. I’D RECOMMEND LUKE ANYTIME. HE IS A REAL CRAFTSMAN

Luke was a fantastic find. He fitted our new lounge and dining room wood floor beautifully. His attention to detail was fantastic and was meticulous about getting the correct finish. He also refitted and refinished a parquet floor that we had lifted from a different part of the house. The finish he achieved was lovely, retaining the patina of the old floor but brought up to date. A first class tradesman who I would unhesitatingly recommend to anyone wanting to get the best from their wooden floor

Asked for the best floor fitter when I ordered the wood for our floor. Answer – Luke Floorwalker. Lived up to the best – amazing attention to detail, huge care and brilliant workmanship. Really nice to have in the house, – it’s a dusty business but he understood about dust and took enormous trouble to keep it under control. Would unhesitatingly recommend Luke to anyone needing wooden floors – either new or renovation. Rating – Five shining stars

Absolutely transformed our dining room and entrance hall, i cant quite believe the difference. Very professional, friendly service. Turned up when he said he would, which is rare with tradesman. Worth every penny, we’re chuffed to bits.
